Ocular Ultrasound (B-Scan)
Ocular Ultrasound (B-Scan)
When a dense cataract or bleeding blocks the view inside the eye, ultrasound sees past it and images the structures behind.
When it is needed
- Dense cataract — assessing the retina before surgery is planned.
- Suspected retinal detachment — when the retina cannot be examined directly.
- Vitreous hemorrhage — identifying the source of bleeding inside the eye.
The scan is painless, performed through the closed eyelid, and takes only a few minutes.
