Neurology

Our neurologists evaluate conditions of the brain, spine, and nerves — symptoms that are hard to describe and easy to have dismissed, from persistent headaches to numbness that will not go away.

What we treat

  • Headache and migraine — identifying triggers and building a preventive plan.
  • Numbness, tingling, and neuropathy — including nerve damage related to diabetes.
  • Dizziness and balance problems — sorting neurologic causes from inner-ear causes.
  • Memory concerns — evaluation of cognitive change.
  • Seizure disorders — diagnosis and ongoing medication management.
  • Tremor and movement disorders — including Parkinson's disease.
  • Stroke follow-up — secondary prevention and recovery care.

Testing and rehabilitation

Nerve and muscle testing is performed in the office, and imaging and labs are done in the building. When recovery calls for rehabilitation, our physical therapy gym is on site and the therapists work from the neurologist's plan.

For patients with diabetes or vascular disease, care is coordinated with those specialists directly.

Symptoms that need a neurologist

Some warning signs are obvious, others look harmless at first. These are worth an evaluation:

  • Frequent or severe headaches — especially with blurred vision or nausea, or when they disrupt daily life.
  • Seizures — even occasional ones should always be assessed.
  • Balance or coordination trouble — unsteady walking, or difficulty with tasks needing motor control.
  • Weakness or numbness — particularly on one side of the body, or in an arm or leg.
  • Memory problems or confusion — significant or rapid change, beyond ordinary aging.
  • Speech changes — new stuttering or trouble finding words.

Sudden weakness or numbness on one side, or new difficulty speaking, can be a stroke. Call 911 rather than waiting for an appointment.

Neurological care and testing are provided by Dr. Alan David, DO.
