Interventional Cardiology

Interventional cardiology covers the catheter-based treatments used when blockages or structural problems in the heart need more than medication. Our interventional cardiologist evaluates who is a candidate, and manages care before and after those procedures.

When this specialty is involved

  • Coronary artery disease — narrowed or blocked arteries causing chest pain or reduced blood flow.
  • Abnormal stress test or imaging — findings that need a definitive answer about the coronary arteries.
  • After angioplasty or stent placement — long-term follow-up and medication management.
  • Peripheral arterial disease — evaluated alongside our vascular surgery team.
  • Complex cardiac risk — patients with diabetes, kidney disease, or prior cardiac events.

Evaluation and follow-up here

EKG, echocardiography, and stress testing are performed in our cardiac testing suite, so the workup that determines whether an intervention is warranted happens in this building. Follow-up visits do too.

Your general cardiologist, primary care provider, and, when relevant, our nephrology and endocrinology teams all work from the same record.

Interventional cardiology here is led by Dr. Vladimir Fridman, who is board certified in both cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology.
